Local Hemlock--a natural, non-toxic material choice!

In order to maintain the hempcrete's ability to "breathe" (pass moisture from inside the house to the outside) there is a gap between the exterior hemlock cladding and the hempcrete walls--creating a "rain shield" but allowing space to "breathe". Using locally sourced hemlock from an Amish saw mill just north of New Castle further adds to the local impact this project is making.
